Elected Officials

Frank J. Mrvan is the United States Representative for the First Congressional District of Indiana. He understands the importance of good-paying jobs and a growing economy that works for everyone. In the U.S. House of Representatives, he will look for opportunities to be a servant leader, bring Northwest Indiana together to make investments, and grow the regional economy.

State Senator Rodney Pol JR. Represents Senate District 4 in the Indiana General Assembly.

As a member of the Senate Pensions and Labor, Local Government, Environment, Public Policy, and Criminal Law Committees, he represents the working families of Porter and LaPorte counties on some of the most important decisions happening in the state government.

With the support of Region teachers, labor unions, and several esteemed colleagues, including his predecessor, Sen. Karen Tallian, Rodney is running for four more years in the Indiana Senate to build on the gains we’ve made, and to win an even brighter future for Senate District 4.

Pat Boy represents the Indiana House District 9.

Randy Novak is a Democratic member of the Indiana House of Representatives, representing District 9. He assumed office on October 22, 2025, after being unanimously elected by a Democratic caucus to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Patricia Boy. His current term runs through November 2026. Novak has a long history of public service in La Porte County:
Michigan City Fire Department: Served for 33 years, eventually rising to the rank of Fire Chief.
He served for over a decade in the La Porte County Council, including a tenure as President, where he focused on fiscal oversight and economic development.He has been a licensed real estate broker since 1998, giving him a background in finance and contract negotiation.

Jeremy Rivas is the 2nd District County Council Member. Rivas, 47, of Portage, was first elected to serve District 2 in 2010. He is a field representative for Bricklayers Local 4 and would like to work to continue the progress he’s seen in the county since he was first elected.

Greg Simms has been on the council since 2018 representing the 3rd district. Simms retired from teaching at Washington Township High School in the Fall of 2023 after several years of teaching US History and Government. Simms also has a radio show on WVLP 103.1 FM Valparaiso, Indiana.

Kevin Breitzke, Porter County surveyor, is an accomplished leader in regional and county planning, storm water management, and environmental policy resulting in economic, environmental and personal benefits for Indiana and its citizens. Kevin is committed to improving his life-long home, Porter County, Indiana.

Gary S. Germann is the current Porter County Prosecuting Attorney in Indiana. He was elected to the position as a Democrat in 2018 and was re-elected in 2022. His current term is scheduled to run through December 31, 2026. Germann previously served as the Porter County Prosecutor from 1978 to 1982. Between his terms as prosecutor, he spent 36 years in private practice in Portage and served as a county public defender for over 20 years. Currently, He oversees a staff that includes 16 attorneys and five victim advocates. His office manages major felony cases and child support matters.
